From the Indianapolis Museum of Art: Unlike the other major Abstract Expressionist painters, Robert Motherwell was an avid printmaker. His satisfaction varied depending on the skill of his collaborating printer (in this case Ken Tyler) and the subtle qualities of the chosen paper (here Twinrocker handmade paper from Brookston, Indiana). Tyler’s mentor, Garo Antreasian, found in this image, “the grace, command and noble austerity of a Zen brushmaster” … Tyler’s “sheer mastery of processing and printing the magnificent washes is unsurpassed; it rises to complement perfectly the touch of Motherwell’s hand.” [http://wishflowers.tumblr.com/tagged/art/page/5]
