Somphet Chanthala, b.1982, is a native of Xiengkhouang province, a place well known for its historic site, the 'Plain Of Jars' in Northern Laos. He fuses both western and eastern approaches in his art-making, where he explores a cubist approach while retaining a meditative, serene quality to his works.
Somphet has exhibited mainly in Laos and Singapore and like some of his more famous peers, his unique works have also commanded good interest amongst local and international collectors.
